June 24th & 25th - did it!

June 24th.. can't remember what I did liao.. aihh..

June 25th.. I manage to make the login page work (with help from Cheng). Actually, all the while everything was right except one minor mistake. I named one of the word wrongly, which caused the whole thing not to work. Now, it's solved. Next step is to direct it to it's respective pages (3 of them).

I feel too lazy to blog more bout that now. It is Saturday noon/evening after all. Oh, btw, Mr. Frankie's son's driving me crazy. My Mandarin language is very limited. He keeps blabbing on and on and I don't know how to stop him. Sometimes I understand what he's saying, sometimes not. Sometimes I'm not really listening to him, just doing the oic, ohhh.., ahh.. kind of thing where you pretend to understand what someone is talking about.

I'm getting bored here, stuck on a Saturday noon/evening here. How I wish I can go out, have fun

my aeroplane

This post is specially dedicated to my aeroplane.. Hehee.. Okay. I had put this as my avatar pic in YM (Yahoo! Messenger) & people are asking me it's Lego right? & is that yours or you just took the picture from somewhere..

This aeroplane is indeed made from Lego. It is indeed mine. I had it when I was around 4 to 6 years old, can't remember that clearly. My parents bought it for me. The only thing I remember about it as a kid? My dad fix it for me =)

Hehehe.. I was a little bored so I added the words air meishin to my aeroplane. Like Air Asia (am I getting it right??)... Sorry, doesn't fly people, only fly those Lego dudes. You can actually see I have a pilot driving the aeroplane =)

Happily Ever After

Every fairy tale has a happily ever after ending. So does fairy tale really exist in this world? I don't know. Look at celebrities. How many so-called-fairy-tale wedding ends happily ever after? Very few.

***********************************************************
Story of Happily Ever After... (a quick short one)

He met her when they were in the first year of college through a mutual friend. After long hours and days of chattering and chatting, they started going out. Everything went well. Love kept them together. Of course there were those occasional quarrels and arguments. Chaos be it but they never lasted more than a week.

By the beginning of the fourth year of their study, he was worried. After that year, she would be graduating while he still have a year to go as his course required so. He was sure that he would remain the same. He was afraid she would leave. She knew in her heart that she would not leave him. But in this world, anything can happen and she dare not promise him anything for the fear.
The following fall, she graduated. She got a job later on. During college breaks, he would drive all the way just to meet her. It went on for nearly a year until he graduated. A brilliant student, he got a job almost immediately.
Rain and storm they did overcome as two years down the road, he proposed and she accepted. She hugged him and she cried happy tears. Few months later, they walked down the aisle. Close friends and family were there to witnesse the fairy tale coming to live.

One and a half year later, they had a cute little baby boy. While the mischievous little boy was in his terrible twos, he had a beautiful little baby sister. They love each other dearly. Love was always alive in the house. She stayed at home and watched after the kids while he goes off to work everyday, except weekends. Occasionally, they would go on holiday trips, most of the time the whole family, but sometimes just the two of them.

This coming fall, they would witness their grown up son walk down the aisle. He will be building his own family, his own castle, his own fairy tale.

************************************************************
This is a lame, lousy fairy tale.... I know. =P

June 16th, Thurs - First Injury at Work..

Worked on my program in the morning straight till lunch time. After lunch continue till bout 3pm.. Did cut more LAN cables.. cut 2 sets as I was the only one who knew how to do so at that time as the technition (Kenny) was on leave & his assistant (Pang) was out. Later, about 3.30pm, I went across the street to buy some tea-time-food.. When I came back, a friend was in the shop.. said Hi & walked on. Before I even manage to sit down for a nice tea time, Pang asked if I could please go cut a 9 meter cable.. How could I say no la.. he seemed so busy (that time a lot of customers).

So to the back I went. Cut cut, snip snip, untangle wires, sort out wires, clamp clamp.. test.. working good... So I went to the front.. then my friend asked.. crossed cable ah? I went blur for a second, then hit Pang & asked, wei cross cable ahhh?? He said yala.. Make me bengang only cause what I did was normal ones. Then to the back we went.. to make a new one.

He fixed one end & I did the other end. In the process, Mr. Frankie came to the back. He said I am the first girl in his office who knows how to clamp wire... Hehehhe.. Even the other 2 permanent lady workers don't know worr.. heheheh... So ma very happy lorrr.... But then horrr... moments later ahh... sigggghh... I cutting the part of the cable with a cutter... but the cutter cut me in return :(

Haih.. Didn't feel much pain as I was to busy trying to finish up my job. But it was kind of scary seeing the blood oozing out.. Minor cut but kind of deep perhaps.. After that, I accidently injure that part again..twice.. So I applied handyplast to prevent future accidental injury to it.
Actually, I wonder if I shouldgo get a Tetanus jab..the cutter was rusty after all. But then again..I hate doctors..so don't care la.. heheh... I won't die from tat so easily gua.. I would probably die from drinking dirty water.. (I boiled water but after 2 days, I noticed that at the bottom of my jar, there was like sand or something.. dirty stuff from the water la)

Actually I think I can learn a lot of stuff from training here... Because when I ask Pang something (usually hardware), he tends to ramble on a lot.. The only problem is sometimes, I don't really understand what he's saying ><

June 15th, Wed - hardware day

I didn't do anything on my project today..

This morning, I took a long way to go to work... I left home at around 9.30 am & head straight for campus to collect my exam slip. After that I went straight for work.. Stopping by shortly at a minimart along the way to pick up a pack of Soya Bean as breakfast. Thank god it wasn't a hot, sunny day. Kinda breezy but I still end up a perspiring when I reach workplace.

When I arrived at work, I noticed that the computer that I'm suppose to use is still as it was yesterday - the casing open & there were like 2 hard disks.. I don't know if they (Kenny & Cheng) are still doing something with it, so I didn't touch it first.. Later Thomas arrive & turn it on but couldn't get into windows as the mouse hang while only some buttons work on the keyboard. Later on, Cheng arrive & tried to turn on the comp but faced the same problem.. He went banging away on the keyboard... went to the back (storeroom) several times to get some other (old) mouse & keyboard to try on but was still unsuccessful. After banging for some time, he called Kenny & was practically screaming at him for infecting virus into his comp. (Yesterday evening's story: Kenny was transferring data from a customer's hard disc (upon request to keep his data & format his comp) to Cheng's comp (which was acting as a backup) & that was how the virus came about wor..). The customer request is weird.. He had tons of wanted data.. Hey, if its so important perhaps you would think of burning it into CDR or DVDR right?? Plus if you know your comp has virus in it, won't it most probably be from your files? Why would you want to backup & then format & then restore (correct term or not?) the files? Don't format better la.. =P Conclusion: Kenny managed to fix the Cheng's comp problem by around 2.30pm. Thomas worked on his project then..

They were quite a number of customers today.. I help to entertain some of them for a couple of seconds.. hahaha... Today, I cut about 4 sets of LAN cables. I also learn the basic of fixing up a new computer, hardware part... Only it was cut short after fixing the Floppy drive in as there wasn't any of the other needed parts.

After work, went to Jusco to have dinner & to buy some stuff. Dinner was at Windmill. I had something on the menu called Gordan Blue. It was like normal chicken chop kinda thing, only it had cheese, ham & pineapple on it too.. Something different from normal.. It taste really nice =)

June 14th, Tues

Today I updated my interface & did 1 part of the database. Took nearly the whole day.. til around 4pm I stopped working on it = end of story =

I also learned to fix the Lan cable thingy... You know.. the cable you use to connect modem to router or router/switch to your computer @ network card. Steps? Cut the white wired around the 8 tiny colourful wires about 1.5cm (my estimation) away from the ends. Then, sort out the 8 wires nicely, according to the colors => light orange, orange, light green, blue, light blue, green, light brown & lastly brown (should be correct la.. not refering to any materials now =P). After sorting them nicely next to each other, the next step is to insert it into its umm...I don't really know the thing to plug in is called... head perhaps? After that, make sure they fit nicely before clamping them using a special tool... Done? Not so fast.. Finally, you must make sure it's working nicely (else customer bring home cannot use...). There is a special device used to check if the wires are properly & correctly fixed. I was successful on the first attempt =) so happy... ehehhe.. Thomas got the first one wired wrongly & was successful on second try.

Many customers today.. quite an endless stream.. Probably something to do with the fact that yesterday was the first day on the first sem of 2005/06...

June 13th, Mon - officially started & since when comedy turns into P??

I've officially got started on my project. I did most of the interface plus some basic link & showed it to my supervisor. He gave me thumbs up for most of it but there are some parts which I'll have to redo. I'll fix 'em tomorrow. =) Plus, I'll get started on the database.. tables, attributes.. blablabla.. You'll get what I mean if you did take a subject called the database systems =P

Hopefully, by Wednesday, I would've completed the basic interface & the database. I'm hoping to get started on linking the databse to the interface & coding them obviously latest by Friday. That's probably going to eat up a lot of time as I've no experience with PHP til bout 2 weeks ago... & even those are very very basic PHP & I was refering to books & notes from the Internet..

Learnt something else too.. How to differentiate SD, DDR & RD -RAM. If you look at the bottom part where you fix it intact, SD has two holes/small gap at the bottom of it, 1 in the middle & another near the corner (assuming you understand what I'm saying). For DDR, there is a hole/small gap at the middle while for DDR 2, there is one hole/small gap is slightly away from the middle part of the board. Meanwhile, for RD, there are 2 holes/small gaps in the middle part.. err.. made up of both the DDR & DDR2 type.. Something like that la..I hope I didn't get this wrong..

Apart from that, also learnt another thing. There was this 2 girls who brought in a CPU which apparently could not display output to the monitor. The problem was easily fixed by removing the Graphic card (I think) & using an eraser, erase along the err.. part which fixed onto the motherboard. Apparently, overtime, it would generate Carbon, which cause disruption to the electricity flow. After erasing & fixing it back & voila! The problem was solved!

Guess what? Last night I tried downloading Mr. & Mrs. Smith... It's been the talk of the town that it would be a shame to miss watching it right? I've burn a couple of holes in my pocket so I thought I would just download it. When I came back from work just now, I was quite thrilled that the downloading of the movie is complete. So I thought that I would glance through the movie & it wouldn't run properly on my Real Player, so I tried DivX Player, which work perfectly fine... But not after a couple of minutes... I got a shock seeing the movie.. I scrolled along the movie wondering if it was just a scene in the movie but to my horror... most part is that.. Know what I'm talking bout?? Don't know?? Apparently the Mr. & Mrs. Smith so-called movie that I downloaded turned out to be porn.. Lesson learnt? Don't download movie just to save money & get the unwanted shock.. I might actually go to the cinema to watch it.. if I actually have the time to =)

June 8th, Thurs - blurblur

Today do nothing again...not my fault la... when only got proper computer to use also I don't know ler... Everyday I only hope it's tomorrow... but still... haih... Today use Pang's laptop... he was out since morning with Mr. Cheng... Don't know where they went butI got to use the laptop nearly the whole day =)

Met up with my ah kor (god-brother) .. He's Danny.. He's my nice ah kor.. He's my best friend's bf.. hehe... Anyway, today something must have happened to me..A total blurness... I was waiting for him when I saw him across the road in his car.. He waved at me or something.. can't quite understand what his hand signals was all about... So I crossed the road... Then he made a U-turn.

We went to Coffee Bean in Jusco.. Heheheh... ah kor treated me today... yummy chocolate ice blended.... hahaha.... Jealous or not, I got nice ah kor.. =P We talked & talked... bout many things la.. friends.. my industrial training.. subjects taken... blablabla.... then it was about a quater to 11 the waitress came by & told us they were closing down.. so we left.. & a total blur case... I walked past the door to a glassed wall thinking it was the door.. only to realise when I reached there.. & then ah kor went laughing again... He was at the door... telling me "oi here la..", laughin & laughing again... sigh... I am blur.. maybe I left my brains at home ya..

Hmmph.. Thank you Danny kor kor... for being the brother I never had/have... & thank you for coming all the way from town to visit me... & the treat.... hehehehe... =)

Never Gone...

This is a song lyric from Backstreet Boys new album Never Gone.. the song title? Never Gone... will be posting more of their song Lyrics later... I love their new songs... mostly because I can connect to them..

I really miss you, There's something that I gotta say

The things we did, The things we said
Keep coming back to me & make me smile again
You showed me how to face the truth
Everythings thats good in me I owe to you

Though the distance thats between us now may seem to be too far
It will never seperate us deep inside I know you are

* Never Gone, never far in my heart is where you are
Always close, everyday, every step along the way
Even though for now we've got to say goodbye
I know you will be forever in my life (Yeah)
Never gone (no no no no no)

I walk alone, these empty streets
There is not a second you're not here with me
The love you gave, the grace you've shown
Will always give me strength & be my corner stone
So how you found a way to see the best I have in me

As long as time goes on, I swear to you that you will be

*
If theres one thing I believe, I believe
I will see you somewhere down the road again

June 7th, Tues - Tuesday still so blue...

Hahaha.. yaya. the computers are still having Monday blues... 1 totally refuse to start in Normal mode while another could start after changing the HDD & installing the windows...blablabla... But this particular computer that we (me & Thomas) are suppose to use didn't wanna let us install all the programs/softwares that we would need to use for our project.. On second check, it didn't fit the requirements. This is followed by a change of taking out the HDD & is swap to the other comp (the one that refuse to start). After many hours of trial, it's still a failed result although it fulfills the system requirements neede to install this particular programs/softwares.

So basically today I did nothing, although I did follow Mr. Cheng out to have site..site.. site something (get back here when I find the word in my brain =P) at Seri Negeri. We had to stop by the TMNet office first though. It was at the K-Ekonomi building. After we went into the building, Mr. Cheng told me that the lift we're about to take is the smallest lift ever.. It left me pondering for sometime as the width of lift from outside look just as big as any other normal size lift. But when the lift arrived & opened, that was when I realise what he was saying,.. It is small! This was because the length was about half or one third of the normal lifts. Hahaha.. He told me it was big enough to fit 6 people... It really made me wonder because if there are bigger size people, it would be just enough to fit in 2 or 3 of them only... Goodness..

All my rants for today, I learned nothing.. nothing much.. But I saw the smallest lift ever in my entire life.. hahahha..

June 6th, Mon - Monday Blues

Nope... I'm not the one with the Monday blues.. Ok, maybe just a little.. but anyway, it was the computers having Monday Blues... 1 computer refuse to start, another refuse to go into the windows in Normal mode, only can go in in Safe mode, while another took about half an hour before deciding to work.. :P

Nothing special today. I managed to clear my blurness of what I'm suppose to do with the system. I'm suppose to deal with the whole thing.. ugh.. But there are actually some parts which I think I would just modify from the old ones while starting from scratch for the others.. & ohh.. the thing is.. I'm suppose to complete all this by end of the month in time for the promotion/booth opening/blabla in MMU.. which will probably be in 3rd week of semester 1 academic calender 2005/06, 27th-30th July.

Anyway, I did some basic template on how my system would be... Hopefully tomorrow there's a usable, good computer available for me to do my work.. =)

Today is the one day that made me look forward to working life.. hahahaa.. I think I might actually like being involved in fair or booth stuff thingy although my marketing skill is right where it started & belong.. zilch.. nothing... hahahaaa...

June 4th, Sat - MITC & OT

Today was kinda a busy day even though it was a Public Holiday, which means it was suppose to be an off day, but I did OT (overtime)..with a ridiculous pay, but ok la, since I'm only having training ma... Kinda fun after all...

Left for MITC at around 10am, supervisor fetch lor, what else... Reached there, many booths have not opened yet, but there was a lot of people as there was a coloring competition for kids.

After opening booth, I went around with Streamyx flyer & remembering what Mr. Frankie had taught us the day before.. putting it to good use. However, I still did not manage to get any customers.. sigh... Many did say that they are already using Streamyx while minority did not seem interested & some pratically can't wait to get away... hmph.. They were a few that was interested, but wanted to take more time to think over the promotions & ponder on their decisions whether to sign up or not. Anyway, I did give them relevant brochure(s) & of course the one with the company name, address & telephone number so that they can still sign up with us even after the fair is over (tomorrow's last day).

However, there were 2 annoying guys from another booth (some language learning thingy) who seems to like the idea of kacau-ing (disturbing) me.. One of them (a Malay) I did talked to yesterday when he asked me to sign up to learn some languages, which I brushed him off by telling him that my english is good enough =P, I can speak Malay language despite what he thinks (which he made me speak just to prove that I can) & that I do not have money to travel overseas so for what I wanna learn another language - I have no interest in them & it'll just burn more holes in my pocket.

Anyway, today he saw me & came to buat kacau (disturb). He tried again to ask me to sign up, again which I brushed him off & then irritate him by asking him to sign up for Streamyx. He asked me if I knew the meaning of couple, to which I replied two people together la (lame answer, I know). Then he said he knew I would say that & actually it means some staple thingy or what-so-ever la... which left with a huge huh (I look for the meaning of couple in www.dictionary.com but not 1 meaning has anything to do with any stationaries also...duh). Then he blab on that he have seen couples like Chinese & Indian, Indian & Malay, so do you wanna couple with me?? I was like WTF! Of course I didn't say that out loud la. I said No & he went on blabbing for another 2, 3 minutes before I cut him short.

Later on, when I passed that booth again, his colleague (an Indian this time), passed me a brochure to which I told him that the other guy (pointing at him) had already given me yesterday, to which he said he give is he give, I give you different ma... So not wanting him to blab so much, I took it & wanted to run off. Perhaps this is how some people feel when I approach them.. hmphh.. But he started blabbing right away.. sighsighsigh... He asked bout my English, so I decided to boast a little with my results in 1119 so he would shut up & leave me alone but he wouldn't stop so I let him taste his own medicine by annoying him to sign up for Streamyx, to which he replied, if you be my girlfriend then I sign up la.. (what's wrong with this company's people man!).. of course I tell him No la.. Then he asked if we can have lunch together, which I said No, then he pressed on with some questions & then asked me what bout dinner, to which I said I already meeting someone for that.. Then he said you're hebat la (something like terrific, I guess) & gave up.. Hahahaa... After lunch (I bought a burger & a chocolate milk shake (yummy!) & eat in my duty booth, I did not wander off any more as I did not want this guys to bug me with more questions.. =P

I relate the incidents to my colleague & the guy (a new friend now) working at the booth next to ours. My new friend said it's normal la, pretty girls being disturb... Hahahaa.. he said me pretty worr.. though I don't think I am, but I take that as a compliment, SS. Thank-you-very-much! Hehehee..

June 3rd, Fri - MITC, Mesra Melaka Fair

hmph.. today my supervisor asked me to follow along to the fair, the fair in MITC (Melaka International Trade Center), the Mesra Melaka fair.. or something like that la.. (actually my duty slot is only tomorrow morning) to see things as I've never been involved in this marketing thingy before... I ended up having to ask people around to sign up for Streamyx & I ended up with zilch..zero lo.. It was tiring but much better than sitting in the office staring at the computer & the walls.

All in all, (too lazy to blab on) today I learn about marketing. Ohh.. when I got back to the office, Mr. Frankie did asked how many customers I get... I just smiled sheepishly & replied zero. Lol... Then he went asking why zero??? After that, he gathered us, mainly the trainees & taught us on marketing Streamyx...

Basically, my lesson of the day was How to market Streamyx... & gaining some experience on that.

Hahahaa.. I'm going there again tomorrow... wish me luck that I get some customers... Or it'll be hard to explain... 2 or 3 would be good enough for me.. though the target Mr. Frankie set is 5 per person per day.. =P

Thursday, June 02, 2005

June 2nd, Thurs - Lin..lin..lin..wut...Linux?.. Not ark.. lin..lin.. Linspire..

2nd day of training... did something more than yesterday...

Today Mr. Cheng walk me through the company system... as in showed me the system la... & then I'm not very sure what he was telling me cause he was talking way too fast for me to understand & was so busy clicking away... I'm still a little confuse with the system as there are some weird stuff.. (to me anyway)..

& I'm quite confuse by what he's trying to ask me to do.. He said something about the system.. I only know I'm suppose to do something with the system.. but what??? Anyway, I did some crap.. in hopes that they're correct & will probably be showing him some suggestions & craps tomorrow to start off with.

Basically today, what I did is learn about the system, think of how to adjust the system to make it better (in hopes that I'm doing the correct thing la.. *prays*) & played game.. It was a lagging comp anyway.. could only play some crappy games that was already on the comp, nothing online.. & the computer does not run on Windows.. so sad.. Oh yeah.. I learned another thing.. adjustin myself on another OS, Linspire..

Sigh sigh sigh.. It's gonna be a longgg 4 months.. I really HATE WORKING! Argh..

June 1st, Wed ... Industrial Training 1st day

It was total crapzzz... before today but now i think i'm going to blog everyday (almost, anyway =P) to make more crapzzz... hehehe.... actually, i decided to fully utilised my blog as i've use it only once in a bluemoon for my industrial training daily rants.. that way.. i can refer back here for my daily & monthly reports... hehehe...

Anyway, today was quite boring at times & so-so at times... but basically the whole day was like waiting for time to pass... Before I rant on... should probably give a brief idea.. My training place is Netpolitan. My boss is Mr. Frankie, my supervisor Mr. Cheng & training-mate, Thomas. I have to work 6 days a week.. (note: 6 full days, not 5 & 1/2 days) that's mon-sat, from 10am til 7pm.. the good thing is that it starts operating at 10am, which means I get to sleep in, but the drawback is having to work on sat...

Today is the first day of my... errm... boring training... Like I said, just basically waiting for time to pass. I went in slightly before 10am, only Mr. Frankie & some other trainees from err.. i-cant-remember-what-college was there.. I greeted Mr. Frankie & then he asked me to have a sit first.. Not too long, Thomas came... & we waited for about 15 to 20 minutes before Mr. Frankie called us into his office. He gave a brief idea of what the company was operating & what is our main project. Mine was to create the webpage + database for customer to register online using PHP & MySQL.

Then, he sent us out & asked one of the clerk (umm... I'm not sure if she's called a clerk onot la...) to brief us on the basic streamyx packages & the current offers.. just in case a customer should ask if we answer the phone, we would be able to walk them through the different range of packages. After that, we sat there staring into space... (hahahaa...) as our supervisor was out & there was no computer available for us to use. When our supervisor came back, we were introduced & he asked us to go for lunch first as there wasn't much for us to do today.

Later, we followed Pang, the technition to Stamford College. He was suppose to troubleshoot a problem with the AP. We learned something about the AP.. Apparently, the phone line is connected to the modem, which is then connected to the EVI before it is connected to the AP. EVI is used to create a tunnel to the server to create a LAN.. & blablabla... =P

Afterwards, we were brought to a former Satay Celup shop. This is where the Netpolitan branch (which will hopefully be opened in July) will be. It is for the TMNet Clickers. (Information from TMNet web: TM Net clickers is TM Net Sdn. Bhd’s one-stop Internet service centre where everything is under one roof, from Internet access, service registration, bill payments and processing of accounts to the purchasing of merchandise and prepaid cards as well as an avenue for customers to experience various Internet access speed at the demo area provided.)

We stopped by several other places before finally going back to the company at 6pm.. We sat & stared around waiting for 7pm. & that was my first day semester 1 of my final year, my first day of industrial training... but most importantly, my first day of work...

I realise today that studying was much better than working... When you're working, you don't have flexible time off (unless you're the boss la..). When you're studying, you choose your timetable, you can choose to skip classes. Even if you don't skip classes, your time is still quite flexible compared to working hours... So sad... & this is already my final year... *pouts*
