The Screwed Up Day

When I got to the office today, I knew it was going to be a tough day. I haven't even started my working shift and fellow junior was bombarding me with questions already. In my head, it was 'I shall not let anyone spoil my day today'. I tried very hard to be damn patient with him. (Even my other colleague noticed). Normally, probably by 5 minutes into the string of questions, he would've gotten 'scolding' from me. Yes, I'm harsh. Why??? Some people just NEVER seem to learn. They ask the SAME SIMILAR STUPID QUESTIONS day in day out. Maybe the same exact question would appear from that same exact person at least 3 times a week? If you're brand new at this, I get it that you take time to learn. But it's been like half a year...? How much longer do we have to tolerate that kind of nonsense? Enough is enough. Later in the day, the same person asked me another question. I asked back and that person hesitatingly answered me. Enough is enough. My next string of words? "You remember that. You are not allowed to ask me that question anymore." Yes. I put my foot down. It's time to draw a line. If I was being harsh and you still didn't get it, then I guess I have to come right out and say it? Patience is something I don't have if you ask me to put up with this nonsense. I've my own problems too.

So the first hour of the day, I got NOTHING DONE. Not that I was being lazy. Everytime I wanted to do my task, something else comes along. Oh, DND status has no effect.

Blablabla...

I also super hate this user today. I did exactly as per requested and less than 1 hour later, I got a flying email, cc-ed to the whole wide world. Okay la, not the whole wide world, but you get me right? I attended to the user and was asked to call back 1 hour later. BUTTTTTTT... less than 30 minutes later, another email came flying. I hate it that I did nothing wrong there but got another 'shooting' email? That cased took up almost half the day. And I missed my trainings. More "don't knows" from me later.

Lazy to write more. But it's weird that the day I stepped into the office and was determined to let nothing spoil my day, here comes bucketfuls of shit just waiting for me.

I must be more patient. I must be more patient. I must be more patient. I must be more patient. I must be more patient. I must be more patient. I must be more patient. I must be more patient. I must be more patient. I must be more patient. I must be more patient. I must be more patient. I must be more patient. I must be more patient. I must be more patient. I must be more patient. I must be more patient. I must be more patient. I must be more patient. I must be more patient. Tell me why again?

Dream Job

Quiz from Facebook tells me my dream job is to be a:

******************************
Chef
You are bold and full of flavor, just like you famous food. You've always had a thing for tastes of things and opened your own restaurant to prove it.
******************************

In a funny way, it's sort of true.
I love 'playing' with food. ;b

Last Day of Feb

Finally, the week is almost up.
Had worked 9am-9pm this whole week (Mon-Fri). Tiring? Still manageable. Guess what? It was boring! After repeating the same thing for days, Friday was a bore. Waiting for 9pm was like WHEE~~

I've been in this new 'department/team' for about 5 months. It's challenging to move from something that is quite the same but yet very different. Felt like giving up at times. I would probably kill myself for saying this, but being a quite new team (the team itself is quite new), the greatest thing is the teamwork.

Guess which part of it I hate the most? The part where it somehow crosses the work I was previously doing and the current. And, the part where I myself is blur and needed guidance and some people just decide to ask question you. The worst part? It was almost like being with a kid who had just learn the 'Why' word. It's like, I don't know lerrr... Why don't you just don't keep Why-ing me? And the part where some people just loves asking you absolutely everything; including ones that you had previously, specifically mentioned before, so that this would not happen. Must you ask every single, simple detail?

On a different note, somebody probably has to tell this somebody that 'all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy'. Oh oh...... the other day, I was reading this book thingy bout office, and I quote "when management talk about improving productivity, they are never talking about themselves". LOL. Any idea how true is that...?

So do I feel motivated enough to work? Beats me.
For now, let me dream.
Am looking forward to 'events': next/next next week, 2 months+ and 6 months+ from now.

ps: don't know why but I feel like I wanna go Genting...? Sheesh~

God is busy

Before I get into the story...

At work, we have what we call a Duty Manager (DM) (normally is a manager, or assistant manager, or on weekends: team leader) who, in simple terms manages calls vs resources/head counts (anybody who knows: please correct me if I'm wrong :b).

Due to the fact that we need to have a balanced head count at all times at work, we are required to ask permission from the duty manager (DM) before we go to break (toilet break, pantry break, prayer break). Yeah, I can hear you going WHAT??? Yes, like school kids. We moan about that occassionally.

Here's story of today (Hey, it rhymes!)

So today noon-evening DM is one who most of the time seems to gets a lot of problems (like one of our main application will be down and stuff like that) when he's on duty; not that he wants but that's how things seem to frequently turn out. Btw, he's also a friend who can kid/joke around.

As soon as I saw him on duty, I private messaged (we have our own chat thingy within office network) him..

Me: u dm?
DM: yeah. y
Me: bad lor
DM: y
Me: always a lot of problems 1
DM: yalor. look at the calls (calls started pouring in like heavy rain =.=)
(the chat went something like that)

Later...

A malay girl asked for prayer break.
DM told her to go. Fast. As in, do it fast and come back fast.

So I private messaged him again...
Me: how to pray fast?
DM: can la. god also busy what.
Me: LOL. yeah, he's busy creating problems for u.
DM: yalor. cis.

And yes, our so important messenger thingy went crazy too...
Pity him. Don't know why he has such luck ;b

Timing

*sigh*
What a Tuesday!!
Suppose to be in for work at 8am and finish at 4pm. Had planned on coming home to wash hair, have a nice long bath, wash clothes and surf the net/play games...
Somehow, the whole schedule went haywire...

Woke up earlier (to get to work earlier) than intended due to some urgent 'report' that needed to be hand up to boss's boss by 9am+. So arrived at work around 7.30am, started rushing to finish it off; which I manage to... :b

Fast forward to 4pm...
4.12pm, I was still working!!! What happened there??? I forgotten I was only working til 4pm!!! Gawd!!
Then, I hung around to work on another 'report' cause I thought I have OT (evening OTs are normally 5-7pm). By 4.58pm, I noticed something amiss as the system did not prompt me to login (which it normally does 5 mins before start time). Click click check check.. OMG!! I do not have OT le!!! So I just *screamed* to my friends nearby, who don't want OT, I can replace him/her (since I was already there so long; btw, it's paid OT). So eventually, I replaced a friend's OT (she was rushing to complete her reports).

And cause of that, my whole planned schedule for the day went haywire and had to be scraped.
And yes, my dirty laundry is still waiting to be wash. Ugh!!
And oh, I blamed it all on the first event. That caused my timing to be off. ;b

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The other half said I'm too stressed out probably? *sigh*

Maybe so... the past 1 month+ has been crazy... The continuos working + team building + DR (Disaster Recovery) Drill 1, Pre DR Drill, then DR Drill 2, *quite* last minute was informed to give 2 trainings (training on 2 different 'applications', both were the first training I conducted *shy*), suddenly having 3 instead of 1 newbie(s) to teach/train/guide... Report(s) to do... And all this have not come to an end yet!!

2 of the newbies will be with me til Friday. They're okay, but I do hope they pick up the skills fast enough when they are on their own (after Friday), else I get complain later... :b
To be entrusted to guide 3 newbies is so.. so... so.... like such an honor? HAHA... One of the said that I am so greedy as I have 3 buddies (normally it's one to one). He calls me "sifu" *sweats*.

Report is incomplete... Still working on it. Must finish it off quickly.

But on some level, I am pretty glad to have more deskwork now than to just perform the task of "take calls log problem resolve/escalate problem blablabla..."

OMG!! Just realised I have some e-learning (@read & do the test online @intranet) that needs to be completed by end of June.

Argh... Why do time seem to pass so fast when I have a lot to do or when I am enjoying myself??

First...

MC of the year.
The usual - sore throat, cough, fever.
The worse this time: sore throat. Hurts to even swallow saliva ;b

Just wanted to 'pen' down something(s) I remembered...

The other day, a user from Sabah/Sarawak (can't remember) was asking to fix her problem on an urgent basis. In a cheeky manner, she said "my work are piling up like Mount KK le!"... *laughs* "If I don't get it done soon, it's gonna be like Mount Everest d..."

Today, a support reverted an email (I was in the cc loop), "Please resend. The file probably got lost in the ocean."

Do I deserve this?

Why do I feel like somebody is trying to sabotage my day?
That one person just drives me up the wall. Patience is running really low & dry.

You didn't know. I taught you.
You didn't understand. I explained.
You didn't know how to use the application. I guided you.
You couldn't fix it. I helped.
I even went the extra mile to inform you what you should/should not do.

At one point or another, you have to learn to stand on your own feet.
Furthermore, you've had training on all these.
Enough is enough.

So when you asked something you should already know, I question you back based on the knowledge you have (plus hints). Questions to & fro but one hour later & you stil didn't get it. You ended up delaying an urgent problem, which you still didn't know how to fix. I questioned why did you delay such a thing & you BLAMED ME for it???

Excuse me but if it's URGENT, you should've said something about it. & also, IT'S SOMETHING YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN ALL THESE WHILE. Why else go through all the freaking trainingsssss???

Don't freaking say "oh how come I don't know that I know this one?"
It just sounds plain rude to me.

& should I be blamed for something that you should know but do not know?
Do I deserve this?

Stop testing my patience. I've went extra miles being very kind, helpful & patient to you compared to others (other juniors).

Breaking Record

How many people can say they woke up 15mins before work & got to work in time???

I supposingly start work at 7am today.
I woke up at 6.45am.
First thought that came across my mind: should I go to work or should I call in sick?
Decided on going to work as I am too chicken to call in sick.
Rushed around in a very kelam-kabut manner. Done within 5 mins.
Ran downstairs to be greeted by my aunt's helper (emm.. maid la actually) "you're late!"
(zzzzz.. I know la!)
Drove faster than normal to work. About 60km/h (which my bro reckons is speeding).
Arrived right on the dot.

The other half says: you seem very proud of your "achievement"...

Hehe... I don't hope to repeat this rushing feat though...

Can you speak in English?

Remember How being a customer support executive can kills your brain cells ?

This is another one... (btw, conversation IS in English)

Exec calls user...
Exec: Good afternoon. This is Exec calling from Y. May I speak to User please?
User: Har?
Exec: *a littls louder* May I speak to User please?
User: What?
Exec: *louder* May I speak to User please?
User: I can't hear you..
Exec: *even louder* May I speak to User please?
User: What?? I am not hearing you.. (yes, the User speaks a little broken English)
Exec: *as loud as can be* May I speak to User please?
User: I am not getting you. Can you speak in English?
Exec: *wth?????*

Exec decides it's time to cut the call. Exec has been talking so loud, people at the other end of the biggg office could probably hear.

Life-less

After almost a week of being on leave (last Wednesday til Monday), going back to office was a nightmare. From Tuesday til Friday, I worked from 9am til 8pm. Haih. I felt so life-less. Really thank god the week(days) has passed by.

& I don't know whyyyyyy, everytime I am busy with something, someone will have something to ask me, or something they want me to do, or someone did something wrong & somehow got me involved in it, or something this or something that, you get my point? It's not like I'm so self-centered or selfish that I don't want to help or something, but why all the something(s) have to come at the same time ahhh??

I'm not working this weekend but later have to go back to office again for team meet (See what I mean by feeling life-less?).

Someone totally need a(some) holiday(s) somewhere & somehow have to figure out how to pull it off before something totally comes in the way! Arghhhhhhhh!!

How being a customer support executive can kills your brain cells

User logged a problem that application X is not working due to account lock out. Request unlock account, stated: still remember password.
(FYI, account lock out is due to password key in incorrectly)

Exec calls user...
Exec: Good afternoon. This is Exec calling from Y. May I speak to User please?
User: This is User speaking. *& User starts giving unnecessary lengthy details of User's problems with application X*

Halfway through, as soon as User stop talking for a moment (probably to catch a breath ), Exec quickly jumped in at the chance to talk...
Exec: I've already unlocked your account for application X. Can you please try again?
User: *continues blabbing*
Exec: *sigh silently & repeated what was mentioned while User was blabbing*
User: Oh, okay!! *User proceeds to try login again*

After what seems like ages later...
User: No. Cannot. Still lock.
Exec: *curses application X silently & proceeds to unlock User's account again* I've already unlock it again. Please try again...

After few rounds of unlocking by Exec & trying to login by User... (because User insisted User remembers password)...
Exec: Do you want me to reset the password for you to try??
User: Okay.
Exec: *unlock account & perform password reset* User, your password is ZZZZZZ00.
User: *try login* No. Cannot. Account lock.
Exec: *unlock account again* I've unlocked again. Please try again. Make sure you type carefully. It gets lock as soon as you key in incorrect password.

Freaking User still manage to get it incorrectly & Exec had to unlock User's id repeatedly...
Until suddenly, User remembered User's ABCs from kindergarten & miraculously manage to type it correctly.
Exec: *relief that User manage to login*
User: It's prompting me "Password expired. Please change password."
Exec: *speechless for a moment. Like that also need to teach mehhhhh???* Yeah, just change to your own password, then okay d.
User: Okay *attempts to change password*

After what seems like a million years...
User: Cannot. It says "Password must contain at least 3 numbers"...
Exec: *almost bangs head on table* Just follow the instruction.. Your new password must have 3 numbers...
User: *attempts to change password* Cannot. I don't remember my old password..
(FYI, Old Password should the one that was just given to User: ZZZZZZ00)
Exec: o.O *but what's with User insisting able to remember old password earlier?* Actually, for the old password, your should key in the password I gave you just now.. The ZZZZZZ00..?
User: Oooooh... Okay!

After what seems like hundred million years...
User: System won't accept my password.
Exec: *at the verge of screaming!* You have to make sure there's 3 numbers in order for the system to accept your password..

In the background, Exec hears User's colleague advice to key in password ZZZZZZZZ000.
User: Ah.. Okay already..
Exec: Thank you. *faster end the call*
